Rent Information

Windmill Place receives funding from USDA, HUD and a tax credit investment firm. With each of these funding sources there are rules for determining rent. Rent for apartments in Windmill Place is set on a sliding scale. Two factors are considered when determining your rent.

The first factor is the five levels (Tiers) of rent. Each apartment is assigned a Tier and a rent amount. Rent amounts change once a year.

  1 Bedroom 2 Bedroom
Tier 1 $438 $521
Tier 2 $606 $721
Tier 3 $735 $822
Tier 4 N/A $870
Tier 5 $821 $940

The second factor for determining rent is your income. Income includes wages, pensions, Social Security, interest from assets, distributions from investments and imputed interest from non-income earning assets. Calculating household income is similar to figuring gross annual income for income taxes. The Tier of apartments you are eligible for is determined by your total household income.

For example: if you are single and your total income is $31,250 you are eligible for an apartment in Tier 3 and will pay rent of $822 for a 2 bedroom apartment.
